Tax Residency Rules in Portugal (in simple language)
You're a Portuguese tax resident if you spend more than 183 days there (consecutive or not) in any 12-month period that overlaps with the calendar year, or if you have a permanent home in Portugal on any day in that period. Ship or aircraft crew working for a Portuguese company are also residents, as are Portuguese officials working abroad. If you're a Portuguese citizen who moves to a tax haven, you're presumed to remain a Portuguese resident for 4 more years unless the move was for a genuine reason (e.g., your employer sent you there temporarily).View Tax Law Source
